In today’s news of unexpected music crossovers that have happened somewhere in the world, we have a nice little Jon Bon Jovi meets Harry Styles mashup.

As reported by Stereogum, Jon Bon Jovi recently treated a handful of fans to an intimate solo gig at a new world-class venue and stage in East Hampton New York, known as Clubhouse. The event was an exciting moment for New Yorkers, particularly as the gig marked the first of the season for the venue.

The 90-minute show was also a benefit gig for Meals on Wheels and Project Most, where not only did Bon Jovi donate the proceeds from his performances to the organisations, the venue also donated $50,000 in charity too.

Throughout the performance Bon Jovi played a range of his original classics as well as conducting a range of Q&As with audience members. He also played a range of covers including the Beatles’ sun-drenched track ‘Here Comes The Sun’ as well as a much more recently created and released track, by none other than Harry Styles‘ ‘Watermelon Sugar’.

While the response to such a crossover is always going to be met by mixed responses and most people probably didn’t see the cover coming, let’s keep in mind that there isn’t really much that the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer could really do wrong. This probably isn’t any Rock purists’ cup of tea, but then again not everything is.

Harry Styles also performed a pretty top notch delivery of ‘Watermelon Sugar’ live at the pandemic edition of the Grammys this year, with the performance also doubling as the show’s opener. If anyone was on the fence about the song before the performance, we’re pretty sure Styles would have changed your mind.
