“Veteran suggests Roman Reigns might retire from WWE for a singular reason.”
Wrestling veteran Konnan recently discussed the possibility of Roman Reigns retiring from WWE.
The Tribal Chief joined the Stamford-based company 14 years ago and has since become the face of WWE. However, the 38-year-old is now on hiatus after his historic 1,316-day Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign ended at WrestleMania XL when he dropped the title to Cody Rhodes. During his absence from the promotion, the leader of The Bloodline is reportedly filming a movie.
On the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, a fan wondered if Reigns would retire from wrestling. While Disco Inferno saw no reason for The Tribal Chief to hang up his boots since he already has a light schedule, Konnan pointed out that moving to Hollywood would be the only reason the former champion might retire:
“He doesn’t have to come to every RAW. He doesn’t have to do every house show. And the other thing is WWE is very smart about that, because not everybody gets that treatment, so it’s like a dangling carrot. If you ever get to this position, this is how you’re gonna get treated. (…) But yeah, why would he retire, bro? He’s getting paid. He doesn’t have to work that much. They take care of him. He’s in good storylines. He’s working with his cousins and his family. I don’t see any reason why Roman would retire unless they gave him like a big Hollywood deal to make a movie,” he said. [9:20 – 10:11]
Has Roman Reigns lost control over The Bloodline during his WWE absence?
While Roman Reigns is away, Solo Sikoa seemingly took control of The Bloodline on WWE SmackDown. The Enforcer introduced Tama Tonga after the two took out Jimmy Uso. The 31-year-old former NXT North American Champion also smashed Paul Heyman’s phone nearly three weeks ago as the latter attempted to call The Tribal Chief.
While fans are now wondering who is currently in control of The Bloodline, Jey Uso stated on Gorilla Position that he would always consider Reigns his Tribal Chief:
“For me, Roman Reigns will always be my Tribal Chief. I learned from him, you know. He’s the one who brought us to the promised land. Now, you know, snakes wanna step up. Solo Sikoa is a big hitter, man. So, I’m just glad I’m not on Fridays no more, Uce, you know what I’m saying? I do my thing on Monday. I’m gonna let that family drama go down over there as long as they keep it on SmackDown,” he said.
It would be interesting to see how Roman Reigns would deal with Solo Sikoa upon his return. Many believe The Bloodline could split into two teams ahead of WWE Survivor Series.
