What is REALLY going on with Britney Spears? Insiders reveal the truth behind why she deleted her Instagram account – amid claims she is ‘completely dysfunctional’ and blowing her $60million fortune

Britney Spears may have sparked concern after deleting her Instagram account amid speculation that she is ‘dysfunctional’ and in dire straits financially – but the singer ‘couldn’t be happier’ having finally quit ties with her father.

The pop superstar, 42, was reportedly taking a break from online to surround herself with friends after quietly settling her years-long legal battle with Jamie Spears, 71, last week.

Though the ruling saddled Britney with her father’s $2 million legal bill, in addition to the $4 million she is believed to have spent on her own lawyer, insiders have rubbished claims that the Grammy winner is in ‘serious danger of going broke’.

‘Britney shut off her Instagram account temporarily to take a break and spend time with her friends after settling the legal battle with her father Jamie,’ an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.

Sources have rubbished claims that Britney Spears is in ‘serious danger of going broke’ after splashing her cash on lavish holidays and her recent legal fees

‘She did what was in her best interests to be done with him forever and she couldn’t be happier.’

They continued: ‘No one is fearing for Britney and she is far from going broke. Yes, she needs to curb her private jet usage but she is far from going broke – this is inaccurate.’

The source highlighted the recent success of Britney’s memoir, The Woman In Me, as one of the many reasons why her finances remain in a healthy place.

The insider continued: ‘She is at the point of recoupment for her book and pulling in 25 per cent of net profits.’

Back in October, Britney happily celebrated her book becoming the ‘highest selling celebrity memoir in history’, with 1.1 million copies sold in the US alone in its first week, according to sales figures.

Britney deleted her page just hours after attacking her family in a pointed post on Sunday morning when she shared the cover of Jennette McCurdy‘s book, I’m Glad My Mom Died.

‘Stay nice folks!!! Good book,’ she wrote of the Nickelodeon alum’s memoir, which followed her experience as a child star with her late abusive mother.

She also posted a mirror selfie on of her half-naked backside as she responded to the legal ruling on Instagram.

Britney returned to Instagram on Monday, sharing a video of herself sprawled atop a horse.

The singer, who changed her name on the platform to Xila Maria River Red, wrote: ‘Horses and outside air !!! So good to be alive.’

TMZ previously claimed that Britney was furious about the outcome of the settlement after her attorney Mathew Rosengart assured her it was a solid case.

In legal filings obtained by the outlet, Jamie accused his daughter of using stall tactics to draw out the case.

Britney’s dad served as her conservator throughout the 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021.

That June, she gave testimony about ‘abusive’ treatment she allegedly suffered during the conservatorship.

She also accused Jamie of financial misconduct as her conservator, for which he was paid $16,000 a month and received a percentage of her tour gross revenues.

With the settlement, Britney and her father have avoided going to trial.

The outlet also claimed that friends of the singer have branded her ‘completely dysfunctional,’ with some claiming she is in a worse mental and financial situation than she was when she was under conservatorship.

It was alleged that Britney is suffering from ‘shocking and radical mood swings’ and has become increasingly isolated.

One source told the site that those who have remained close to the star believe she was doing better while under conservatorship, which ended in 2021.

‘She had lots of freedom in the conservatorship and the restrictions were there to protect her. She’s not protected anymore,’ claimed the insider.

It was also claimed that Britney is allegedly in danger of blowing her $60million fortune after splashing out over a million dollars for each of her monthly trips to French Polynesia and Hawaii, photos of which she shared on social media.

She has reportedly been spending thousands on private jets and five star resorts for the regular holidays.

The singer has been treating herself to some of the finer things in life as she gushed about drinking ‘real wine’ before deleting her Instagram page.

The pop icon shared an image of a glass of wine next to a bottle of Norton Reserva Malbec 2019, an Argentine wine produced in the Luján de Cuyo region of Mendoza.

She wrote: ‘REAL wine feels extremely nice as well !!!! Psss first time with real wine…Jesus f***ing Christ !!!’
