WWE’s Plan For Roman Reigns After WrestleMania 39
Ever since his return to the ring in 2020, Roman Reigns has been an unstoppable force, climbing up the ranks to become the Undisputed Universal Champion and being dubbed as the “Head Of The Table.” With a nearly three-year-long reign, Reigns has emerged victorious in every battle, defeating any and all opponents who dared to challenge him. That being said, WWE still has big plans for him after WrestleMania 39.
For the past year or so, the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, has adopted a more relaxed schedule similar to that of Brock Lesnar. As a result, each of his rare appearances and matches are now highly anticipated and regarded as a big deal.
The Head Of The Table is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championships against Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39. It is expected that he will drop his titles at the event.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that even if Roman Reigns drops both of his titles, he will still be viewed as the top star in the company.
They are slowly building that match since Owens turned down joining with Zayn to take out the Bloodline and told Zayn he should instead join with his best friend Jey. They did neither the Jey turn to cost Zayn the match, nor Owens and Zayn making up and hugging to end the show, because they feel delaying such things will keep the ratings strong. As far as if they will go back to Zayn, or Zayn will win the title from Reigns or beat Reigns if Cody wins the title, nothing is certain past it is an option they could always go to. Right internally the belief is that Reigns is the man and that’s not changing, but that doesn’t mean he has to be champion forever. The Rhodes storyline dictates he has to win the title at some point and it’s no longer a situation where Reigns has to stay unbeaten because of the mega match with The Rock. While Rock did not close the door on the idea for next year’s schedule permitting, it’s probably not worth banking on seriously for next year’s plans.
Roman Reigns is set to make a rare live event appearance on March 4 at The Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto. We will have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for Roman Reigns once WrestleMania 39 ends.
