SZA delves into the state of her relationship with ex-boyfriend Drake after releasing new album

SZA updated fans on her relationship status with her ex-boyfriend Drake while explaining what her name acronym stands for on Friday.

SZA addressed her current status with Drake while speaking with Audacy, saying, ‘We’re cool. And we’ve always been cool. It’s never been weird,’ via JustJared.

Drake previously mentioned SZA in his lyrics on the 2020 track Mr. Right Now, which features 21 Savage.

The 33-year-old songstress added, ‘Anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive.

‘He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him… He’s King Drake,’ she said.

The beauty went on to explain her stage name, saying, ‘SZA is an acronym derived from the supreme alphabet,’ with the S in the name standing for ‘self-savior.’

She added that music helps her to overcome exhausting negative inner voices.

‘Expressing it in music is helpful. It helps kill some of the overdrive of that dialogue and like puts it in a healthy check,’ she said.

Still friends: Drake and Sza dated years ago in 2008, which Drake first made public on 21 Savage’s 2020 Mr. Right Now single. Their relationship dates back 14 years and the duo have remained cordial

Earlier this week, SZA responded to rumors that she had cosmetically enhanced her body in lyrics on her new album.

On the first track her lyrics are: ‘So classic, that a** so fat, it look natural, it’s not.’

Later in the album, on track 15, Conceited, the Missouri-born music artist sang, ‘I just got my body done, ain’t got no guilt about it / I just heard your opinion, I could’ve did without it.’

SZA also addressed her noticeable weight loss as she said, ‘I used to be 200 pounds, and I have stretch marks all over my body.’

She added, ‘I don’t try to analyze those things because I feel like if I focus on who I want to be and what I want to represent for women and what I want to represent for myself, I don’t have time to worry about how men view me.’

On November 30 the songwriter shared the cover of her new album, in which she recreated one of the final images of Princess Diana.

Rowe shared the album’s release date on Instagram, along with album imagery and a clip from her song Blind.

While performing on Saturday Night Live last week the entertainer sang her new single with a string accompaniment and a smokey stage.

S.O.S. is the follow-up to SZA’s critically acclaimed debut album Ctrl, which was released in June 2017.

Ctrl debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 albums chart and was ranked the best album of the year by Time.
