Dr. Dre is slated to sell a collection of his catalogue and streaming revenues in a deal that is said to be between $200 million and $250 million.
Sources told Variety that the Compton, California native, 57, is in the closing stages of a pact with Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group spread over two transactions.
The Beats Electronics founder – who stopped Marjorie Taylor Greene from further using his music on social media earlier this week – had shopped the package, estimated to make around $10 million a year, via his lawyer Peter Paterno, the outlet reported.
The latest: Dr. Dre is slated to sell a collection of his catalogue and streaming revenues in a deal that is said to be between $200 million and $250 million. He was snapped in LA in November
Billboard first reported news of the business transaction involving the rap veteran, whose real name is Andre Young.
The package the Forgot About Dre artist is selling reportedly includes a percentages of his royalties earned as a member of the group N.W.A.
It also encompasses a pair of his solo records; producer’s royalties; and proceeds from his writing royalties on the material in which he doesn’t have publishing rights (which could include tracks from 1993’s The Chronic).
Insiders told Billboard that Shamrock, which also owns a portion of Taylor Swift master recordings, owns about 75 to 90 percent of the revenue-producing portion, and that UMG has the other 10 to 25 percent

UMG would acquire The Chronic recording, which will transfer in ownership from Dr. Dre to Death Row Entertainment (which Snoop Dogg owns) in August. It would also be in line to acquire Dr. Dre’s stake in a portion of Kendrick Lamar’s catalogue.
The rapper was slated to deliver the payment in two installments, which was described as more than 20 percent of his fortune and about 50 percent of his liquid assets, TMZ reported at the time.
The large transactions comes just more than a year after the rapper agreed to pay ex-wife Nicole Young a $100 million in a December 2021 property settlement agreement. The former couple was pictured in October of 2018
The rapper and business mogul was said to be ‘delighted’ by the end result of the divorce settlement, which was impacted by a prenuptial agreement the couple had in place . In the division of property, Dr. Dre kept his master recordings, Apple stock and rights to his headphone company Beats Electronics.
The rapper’s net worth was estimated to be around $820 million in late 2021, Rolling Stone reported. The rapper and business mogul was said to be ‘delighted’ by the end result of the divorce settlement, which was impacted by a prenuptial agreement the couple had in place.
In the division of property, Dr. Dre kept a total of seven locations, four in the Los Angeles area, two in in Calabasas and a beach home in Malibu, which he put up for sale for $20 million in November.
Dr. Dre kept six of the 10 vehicles they shared, with Nicole getting four. Nicole also kept the jewelry she owned, and cash and bank accounts accrued during the marriage, which began in 1996 and ended with their April 2020 split prior to the divorce being finalized in late 2021.
The musical artist is less than a year removed from leading the lauded Super Bowl halftime show last year in Los Angeles, which also featured Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent.
