While the romantic relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has been a hot topic, one of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates reveals that it doesn’t dominate conversations within the team.

During an appearance on The Zach Gelb Show, Drue Tranquill discussed the presence of the “Karma” singer, who has been a regular attendee at Chiefs games since October.

Tranquill, 28, mentioned that while it was an unexpected development in his first year with the Chiefs, having previously played for four years in Los Angeles, it hasn’t been a major distraction for the players.

“It’s interesting. You don’t really feel it or hear about it much inside the locker room,” Tranquill explained. “But there are moments, like during practice when our DJ plays a Taylor Swift song, and everyone kind of makes jokes about it. I think I hear more about it from the wives and girlfriends when I go home than I do within the team.”

The linebacker went on to emphasize that, especially as they approach the upcoming AFC title game against the Baltimore Ravens, which will determine one of the two teams playing in the Super Bowl, Taylor Swift isn’t their primary focus. However, he acknowledged that it has brought excitement to both the team and the fans.

“But it’s been fun, man. It’s something to celebrate, something enjoyable, and we like to tease Travis about it. But it looks like they’re really in love, man. They have something special going on, and we enjoy having her at our games,” he continued. “It brings a lot of energy and fun to our fans, and that’s good for business, good for football, and good for the NFL.”

Travis and Taylor first sparked romance rumors in late summer when the Chiefs’ tight end invited the “Miss Americana” singer to watch him play at Arrowhead Stadium after witnessing her dominance on tour. Taylor accepted the invitation and became a frequent presence at games, becoming a familiar face in the stands and on television screens.

However, Taylor’s camera time during games led to criticism from some football fans who felt she was being shown “too much” during broadcasts. In response, Taylor addressed the backlash during her Time Person of the Year feature, stating that she doesn’t have the time or energy to concern herself with something beyond her control.

“I’m there to support Travis,” she remarked. “I have no awareness of whether I’m being featured excessively and upsetting a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Tranquill’s interview follows teammate Patrick Mahomes’ recent comments during a press conference, where he emphasized that despite Travis becoming one of the most talked-about football players, he remains the same fun-loving guy he’s always been amidst his newfound celebrity.

“Travis has always been Travis,” Patrick noted. “It’s been fascinating for me to watch because despite all the attention, he has remained true to himself. He’s still Travis Kelce. He’ll walk through the stadium treating everyone like they’re his best friend, and he’s going to be that way in the locker room every single day. Nothing has changed.”
