Genius way Taylor Swift ensured nobody was reading her lips at the Grammys

Taylor Swift was more cautious than ever when talking to peers at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

On Sunday night (February 4), the 34-year-old singer-songwriter made a glamorous entrance at the prestigious music ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

During the event, Swift was spotted talking with her tablemate Jack Antonoff, 39, who co-produced her album of the year-winning record, Midnights (2022).

A video captured by E! News revealed the artist holding up a black folding fan over her face while carrying on a discreet conversation with the Bleachers musician.

Many users on X (formerly Twitter) shared their reactions to the humorous display, with one user person remarking: “Lmfao she’s like I’m not getting caught in 4K again.”

Another chimed in: “That cracks me up. No way they are catching anything lol,” while a third user referenced the first single off Swift’s Reputation album, penning: “Look what you made her do.”

A fourth user shared: “Dying at Taylor Swift bringing the fan to make sure people wouldn’t be reading her lips this time.”

In case you missed it, viral online footage revealed the 31-year-old Only Murders In The Building star leaning in to discreetly talk to the ‘Karma’ songstress and Miles Teller’s wife Keleigh Sperry.

At one point in the clip, Swift and Sperry’s mouths drop open in shock as Gomez then appears to confirm what she has just said with an enthusiastic nod.

According to one X (formerly Twitter) user, a lipreader claimed that Gomez said: “I asked for a picture with him and she said no,” to which Sperry seemingly mouthed the question: “With Timothée?” – potentially referring to the 28-year-old actor Timothee Chalamet, who attended the award show with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

News Instagram post, which had the headline: “Was Selena Gomez Gossiping About Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet at the Golden Globes? Here’s the Truth.”

The former Disney Channel star clarified that her and Swift’s actual conversation had nothing to do with Chalamet and Jenner, writing: “Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone business.” (sic)

Chalamet also seemed to shut down the rumors of a feud between Gomez and his girlfriend when he was spotted by paparazzi on January 8 in Los Angeles, California.

When a reporter asked him whether he was “cool” with Gomez, who he co-starred in the 2019 rom-com A Rainy Day in New York with, he replied: “Yeah, of course,” and, when questioned whether there was any “beef” between the two women, the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor said: “No.”
