Ice Cube Discusses NBA, Believes Cancel Culture is Diminishing, and Still Enjoys Watching ‘Friday’ Movies

Renowned rapper, actor, and cultural icon Ice Cube engaged in a conversation with OutKick’s Mike ‘Gunz’ Gunzelman, covering topics ranging from sports to music. Ice Cube, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fаmer and co-founder of the BIG3 basketball league, is set to receive the inaugural ‘Ice Cube Impact Award’ from the NBA and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fаme for his significant contributions to using basketball as a platform for community building.

While Cube expressed excitement and honor about the award, questions lingered regarding a Department of Justice investigation into the NBA’s actions, allegedly attempting to unԀermine the BIG3 by targeting sponsors and advertisers.

In the interview, Ice Cube delved into the NBA’s reaction to the BIG3’s success, highlighting potential personal animosity. He emphasized that working together would be a more strategic business decision and discussed the BIG3’s initial offer of 10% ownership to the NBA, which was declined.

Addressing cancel culture, Cube acknowledged its ebb and flow and suggested that people are starting to push back against it. He urged individuals to maintain perspective, emphasizing that not all opinions need to be shared publicly.

When asked if NWA could exist in today’s era of constant scrutiny on social media, Cube expressed confidence, noting that there will always be individuals who defy societal expectations. He suggested that NWA’s members would leverage modern technology to their advantage.

Regarding ‘Friday’ movies, Cube admitted to still enjoying them whenever they air on cable, finding humor and great memories in each viewing. He also shared his thoughts on Eminem, considering him more underrated than overrated.

Cube concluded the interview by stating that he’s focused on Ice Cube and his fans, offering no free promotion for other artists, bands, or rappers.
