Surrey-born rapper Merkules is set to join rap legend Ice Cube on stage in Victoria this spring. The performance is scheduled for April 23 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre as part of Ice Cube’s extended Straight Into Canada tour, as announced on icecube.com/tour.

The news of Merkules’ upcoming concert was shared on his Facebook page on February 21, the day after Ice Cube’s sold-out show at Abbotsford Centre on February 20.



In a heartfelt post earlier on Facebook, Merkules expressed gratitude for his journey in music, reflecting on the challenges he faced over the past 15 years. From playing to empty rooms and struggling to make ends meet on tour, to persevering through rejection and doubt, Merkules acknowledged the support of his fans and emphasized his determination to succeed.

Formerly known as Cole Stevenson, Merkules spent his formative years in Surrey, honing his rap skills in the now-demolished rancher on 90A Avenue in the Green Timbers area. The house holds significance for Merkules, as it was where he found solace and began his musical journey following a traumatic incident at age 16.

 

In 2022, Merkules made waves with the release of his single “I’m Here” on Deаth Row Records, a label famously associated with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. This month, he shared a photo of himself with label owner Snoop Dogg, highlighting his growing presence in the rap scene.

Fans can catch Merkules live in Kelowna on March 1 at Revelry Food+Music Hub, with more tour dates available on merkulesmusic.com/tour-dates.
