Maddox Jolie Pitt Is Studying Bio Chemistry
Maddox is currently studying at South Korea’s Yonsei University and taking classes in bio chemistry, a source told PEOPLE.
“He got accepted to other universities but chose Yonsei,” the source says.
“He has been studying the Korean language. He has lessons multiple times a week to prepare.”
On March 10, 2002, Jolie adopted seven-month-old Maddox Chivan from an orphanage in Battambang, Cambodia.
The insider adds that while he’ll be far away from his Californian home, his new school is close to the biological family in Cambodia.
“He’s very close to his siblings and they all hope to visit,” the insider says of Pax, 18, Zahara, 17, Shiloh, 16, and 14-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jolie previously opened up to PEOPLE about Maddox’s college plans, saying that she was “nothing but proud.”
“I could not be happier about Mad’s choice of university,” she told DongA Daily, South Korea’s leading media outlet on April 1, 2020. “It is, of course, closed at the moment because of the pandemic. But he’s not transferring school. He’s using the time to focus on his Korean and Russian studies.”
Maddox’s choice to attend a South Korean school comes after he was spotted visiting universities there with Jolie back in Nov. 2018. Mother and son visited campuses in Seoul while Jolie was in the country on an official visit as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) Special Envoy.

Maddox Jolie Pitt testified against his dad Brad Pitt amid an alleged altercation on a private plane, The Sun reports. Jolie filed court documents that accused the Pitt, 58, of domestic violence. The papers state that she and their children are willing to offer “proof and authority in support” of the claims against the Academy Award-winning star. In November 2016, Pitt was cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services after being investigated for alleged child abuse. The organization interviewed the Pitt, Jolie and their six children at the time after the incident with Pitt and Maddox.
In the 53-page heavily redacted report, Jolie told her version of events from the family’s private jet trip on September 14, 2016. The Girl, Interrupted star claimed during an altercation a week before she filed for divorce from Pitt. The mom-of-six stated that Pitt said Maddox, “looked like a f****** Columbine kid”. The Columbine reference is that of the American high school where 12 children and a teacher were gunned down by two students in 1999.
“[Jolie] made similar allegations (about what happened on their plane ride back to the U.S.) which were reported to the authorities and thoroughly investigated before no action was taken,” a source familiar with the case told In Touch at the time. “Brad is heartbroken that Angelina has gone that route,” an insider divulged to Page Six. “There’s a lot of emotion left after their marriage. He has taken responsibility for his actions and owned up to his past issues, he’s stopped drinking. The marriage was very passionate and toxic at times and — like all couples — they had fights, but also shared many good times together.”

Maddox Jolie Pitt reportedly has a very strained relationship with his father. When asked if he thought the Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood star would visit him at the Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea, Maddox replied, “Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening.” The college student also revealed if he thought their dynamic would improve in the future. “Whatever happens, happens,” Maddox said.
By February 2020, BraddPitt was “slowly” mending fences Maddox after the father-son duo “spent quality one-on-one time together,” a source told In Touch. Pitt was intending to go to the 2020 British Academy Film Awards,“but at the last minute, he learned that his son Maddox was back in L.A. from college. So, Brad prioritized things and stayed in town to see him.”
