According to Bloomberg, Amazon founder and the world’s third richest billionaire Jeff Bezos spent $68 million to buy a large plot of land in Indian Creek, Florida, an artificial island off the coast of Miami.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos has purchased a $68 million mansion in Florida’s exclusive “Billionaire Bunker” enclave for his fiancee Lauren Sanchez, according to a report.

This 1.1ha property, built in 1965, was previously owned by MTM Star International.

Public records show the sale took place in June, but the identity of the ultimate buyer was not disclosed. Before that, the last recorded sale was in 1982 for $1.4 million.

According to property records, Jeff Bezos’s 864 square meter mansion has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a swimming pool.

This deal comes a month after the former Amazon CEO proposed to Sanchez with a giant diamond ring worth an estimated $2.5 million. The couple held their engagement ceremony on the billionaire’s $500 million yacht, which has a helipad, swimming pool and a mermaid statue that resembles Sanchez.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos has amassed multiple homes in recent years, including in Washington, D.C., a nine-acre mansion in Beverly Hills that he bought for $165 million in 2020, and a Real estate in Maui. He owns real estate in Manhattan and Seattle as well as a 300,000-acre ranch in Texas that is home to Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket launch site.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a fortune of $163 billion, Jeff Bezos will be the richest resident of Indian Creek. The artificial island Indian Creek – known as the “billionaire’s bunker” – on the outskirts of Biscayane Bay, Florida has only about 40 residential areas and an 18-hole golf course.

The island can only be reached by a single bridge or by boat. Security is paramount, so the bridge entrance is heavily guarded and private security forces patrol the island, on land and water, 24/7. This is also the residence of celebrities such as Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Carl Icahn and Julio Iglesias.
