David Blough has officially hung up his cleats at just 28-years-old.

Former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is Washington’s offensive coordinator and David Raih, who was the Cardinals’ receivers coach for the first two seasons Kingsbury was in Arizona, is a tight ends coach.

Washington is now adding a former player as the team announced that David Blough is their assistant quarterbacks coach.

Blough played for the Cardinals in 2022, starting the final two games of the season, and spent the offseason and preseason in 2023 with them.

This past year he spent most of the 2023 season on the practice squad of the Detroit Lions.

In 2022, he completed 65.5% of his passes for 402 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Blough started seven games in his NFL career, completing 57% of his passes for 1,435 yards and six touchdowns to nine interceptions.

The Commanders are heavy favorites to land a new quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft as they are trying to turn their franchise around. The team hasn’t finished above .500 since the 2016 season.

Washington hasn’t won in the playoffs since beating Tampa Bay 17-10 in the 2005 NFC wild-card round.
