Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott could have his practice plans for Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs game thrown into chaos as more heavy snow is forecast to hit western New York.
The Bills already have two days less of recovery time before the playoff showdown after heavy snow last weekend forced their game against the Steelers to be pushed back by a day.
The weather for Sunday’s game – as it stands – appears fine for football with no snow scheduled but it is the days leading up to the game that could cause a problem for McDermott and his team.
A heavy hit of snow is scheduled Thursday and the coach has admitted it could force the team to cancel practice if it becomes unsafe for players to travel in.
Speaking Wednesday, McDermott said: ‘I just left the game plan meeting and came in here to discuss that with some of our operations staff, just making sure we’re on top of it.
Snow could derail the Buffalo Bills practice plans ahead of Sunday’s game vs. Chiefs

‘We’ll handle it, I’m confident in that, and the best thing we can do right now is just have great communication around it.’
It comes as the NHL postponed Wednesday night’s game between the Chicago Blackhawks and host Buffalo Sabres due to local travel restrictions over the massive snowstorm blanketing the city.
The league announced the game scheduled for Wednesday night would instead be played Thursday night. There’s a travel ban in place for the city of Buffalo and local executives were hoping the league would move back the game in the name of public safety.
The Bills, meanwhile, paid fans $20 an hour over the weekend to clear Highmark Stadium of snow in order to get the venue ready for the Steelers game, which the Bills won 31-17.
While that won’t be needed ahead of Sunday’s game, the conditions will still be bitter.
Temperatures are expected to start at 23 degrees at the 6:30 kickoff time and could drop to 14 across the course of the game.
