Cher insists she’s on good terms with Madonna.

In a new interview with The Los Angeles Times, the “Believe” singer, 77, shared her thoughts on Madonna’s use of a past interview clip of Cher calling the “Vogue” singer “mean” in her new Celebration Tour — claiming they “buried that hatchet” a long time ago.

Madonna’s latest stage show features a video of Cher telling reporter Steve Kmetko in 1991, “There’s something about her that I don’t like. She’s mean. I don’t like that.” However, she doesn’t seem to be bothered by her resurfaced comments.

“I said a lot worse than that,” Cher told the outlet. She was then asked to explain her “beef” with Madonna, 65, and said, “It’s not a beef. I actually like her. But come on.”

She elaborated that Madonna “can be” mean but noted that their differences are behind them. “We buried that hatchet a long time ago because I called her something so much worse, and she forgave me,” said the “If I Could Turn Back Time” musician.

Cher also offered Madonna a bit of genuine praise. “There’s no one like her that had their ear to the ground and knew everything before anybody else,” she said of the “Express Yourself” performer.

“I mean, she knew what was coming, and she was right on it. I always felt that was her greatest gift — that she could know the trends before any of us,” she continued.

What exactly did Cher say about Madonna that was worse than calling her mean? “Look it up,” she told The Los Angeles Times.

Over the past few decades, Cher’s not always spoken positively about the Queen of Pop. During a 2018 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she was asked to name three singers she’d like to duet with and said, “Oh, Adele, Pink, and, uh, um, not Madonna.”

In 2012, Cher posted to X (formerly Twitter), “Wtf is mdna,” likely referring to Madonna’s 2012 album MDNA.

When a fan asked “Do you still hate madonna?” during a 2013 Reddit AMA, Cher replied, “I never hated her, I just thought she was a bitch. Actually I quite respect her.”

The Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again star continued, “Actually I think Madge might be one of the most amazing artists I’ve known. I don’t like everything she does, for sure, but she is always riding the crest of the wave. She always saw trends WAY before anyone else, and had great videos.”

She concluded, “So, besides saying ‘WTF if MDNA,’ I’m fine with it.”

That same year, Cher complimented Lady Gaga to USA Today by praising Madonna. “Gaga’s got ‘it,’ the way Madonna had ‘it,’ something that made you stop and go, ‘What’s that?’” she said. “It’s not just crazy clothes. Madonna had her ear to the ground and knew what was coming before anybody else.”
