Everyone who watched that scene where Stark lies in the hands of his wife Pepper, lifeless, was brought to tears, and naturally so. But when the extended version of the film was brought out after the initial release, fans saw that it wasn’t the complete picture. This scene, dubbed ‘Take a Knee’ shows Pepper kissing her now-deceased husband for the last time, while all the others stand in utter shock and grief.

Then, Clint Barton gets down on one knee and bows his head at Stark, in a mixture of sadness and reverence for his sacrifice. When others take notice of Barton, they too start to kneel down on their knees, until everyone is bowing down to Downey Jr.’s character. When fans witnessed this scene in the re-release, they were shocked that it didn’t make it to the final cut before.

Nevertheless, this scene became the personification of every fan’s true emotion that they felt when they saw the Oppenheimer star’s last crusade as Iron Man in the MCU.
