The 26-year-old is in the midst of an ongoing medical saga that began with a tonsil infection and intensified when she mixed wine with antibiotics by mistake.

In the pictures she posted from her sick bed this week, she was still attached to an IV drip as she pulled a pout and flashed a peace sign for the camera.

When a fan tweeted at her on Thursday asking: ‘are you abo up to get the surgery now or?’ she responded: ‘did it already.’

Doja has had to cancel her upcoming tour dates with The Weeknd, as well as her festival engagements such as Lollapalooza, on account of her health problems.

Her issues stem from an infection she contracted before the Billboard Music Awards, which were held on May 15 and saw Doja win three gongs.

On May 19 she tweeted: ‘dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f***ed so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon.’

Now the recuperation begins: When a fan tweeted at her on Thursday asking: ‘are you abo up to get the surgery now or?’ she responded: ‘did it already’

A few minutes later she explained: ‘nah so my tonsils got infected before bbmas and i was taking f***in antibiotics but forgot that i was taking them and then i drank wine and was vaping all day long and then i started getting a nasty a** growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today.’

Doja announced that her medical issues had driven her to give up vaping as ‘im too scared to hit it cuz my throat hurts so bad. i cried for hours. its not worth it.’

She added: ‘then its like imagine all that wierd poisonous s*** in the vape seeping into the completely open wound in my throat like f*** that. im hella young.’

The following day she tweeted a message to her fans revealing that she had to undergo the throat surgery that she apparently ended up having this week.

‘Hi guys. I wanted you to hear it from me first. Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils asap,’ she wrote on May 20.

‘The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile due to swelling. That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour.’

She concluded: ‘I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.’

Although her throat problems have left her unable to slog through long vocal performances onstage, she has been up and about in the meantime.

Last week she was honored at a party thrown by Dolce & Gabbana in collaboration with Nina Garcia and Stephen Gan to celebrate Elle’s Women In Music issue.

Held at the West Hollywood restaurant Olivetta, the glittering fete welcomed such stars as Heidi Klum, Normani and Christine Chiu.

Doja mingled with the likes of Moulin Rouge! director Baz Luhrmann, who is awaiting the release of his buzzy biopic of Elvis Presley starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks.
