It has led to many believing that the team will once again be very active at the trade deadline coming up in a few weeks. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the mix, the Lakers front office knows that they have to do whatever they can to build the best team possible.

When asked about the potential moves that the Lakers could make at the trade deadline, James took the high road. Once again, he made it clear that he just plays and lets the front office do the work.

It remains to be seen if the Lakers will make a splash at the deadline for a third-star player, or if they just look to upgrade around the edges. Either way works, but the team does need to do something to make themselves more competitive.

The difference between winning and losing in the NBA is such a fine line, and the Lakers understand this. They know that they haven’t played their best this season, and are determined to fix it.

Getting some extra help will change things as well, and give this team a better chance to win the title. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka deserves the benefit of the doubt for now, and fans will need to be patient.

He showed last season that he could help build this team well while using little assets to trade. Once the deadline is over, then we can judge how this team looks.
