Patrick Mahomes got brutally honest on his first road playoff game ahead of the Chiefs’ upcoming playoff clash with the Bills.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has performed well in the NFL playoffs, however, he’s also never played a road playoff game. That will change on Sunday when the Chiefs travel to play the Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes addressed his first ever road playoff game, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
“I’ve been lucky enough to play a lot of games at home at Arrowhead Stadium,” Mahomes said. “But now we have a great opportunity to go on the road, play in a hostile environment, one where I haven’t been able to play with fans in the stands.
Even though I know it’s going to be hostile and there are going to be people talking trash, I’m excited for it because it’s one of the best environments in football, and you want to do that when you grow up watching these games, play in the best environment and see what it’s like.”
Patrick Mahomes looking to lead Chiefs to road victory
The Chiefs and Bills have been two of the best teams in the NFL in recent seasons. Mahomes, of course, understands what it takes to find success in big games. It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs superstar performs on the road, however.
It should be noted that Mahomes hasn’t ever lost in the divisional round, per the NFL’s account on X (formerly Twitter). Since 2018, he’s led the Chiefs deep into the playoffs each season.
The primary storyline surrounding this game will be Patrick Mahomes’ first road postseason contest. The QB rivalry of Mahomes versus Josh Allen also should not be overlooked, though. Both quarterbacks has started their careers strong and it’s always exciting when they go head-to-head.
Allen would love nothing more than to defeat Mahomes, who’s often considered to be the best QB in the NFL. Allen has yet to lead the Bills to the Super Bowl but a win over the Chiefs would go a long way for Buffalo in the NFL playoffs.
Regardless of which team wins on Sunday, fans can expect a competitive and exciting game between the Chiefs and Bills.
