On the latest episode of Lil Yachty‘s A Safe Space podcast, he spoke with hairstylist to the stars, Arrogant Tae, about Nicki Minaj blocking him on social media.
In a clip from the episode, the “Poland” rapper explained to Tae, how he’s trying to get Minaj to befriend him again online — after she blocked him for comments made about not collaborating with her.
“You know Nicki got me blocked?” he said during the conversation. “You know what’s crazy? I’m actually a huge Nicki Minaj fan. I think she’s great. And I’ma take a second in time, to again, for maybe the third time, address Nicki. I would love for you to unblock me because I am a genuine fan.” Lil Boat also followed up with an apology to the “Big Difference” rhymer.
Tae then said he’d vouch for Yachty and personally text Nicki about unblocking him, whilst hoping that the 26-year-old didn’t “do anything crazy.” Beginning to explain what transpired, Yachty started with, “It was definitely, I…,” before speaking about something else.
Yachty and Minaj’s rift started in 2018, when he told TMZ that he wouldn’t work with the chart-topping icon due to his loyalty to Cardi B. Yachty and Cardi are both signed to Quality Control Music. Since then, the Georgia native has tried to reconcile with Minaj.
“As much as I probably would want to, cardi show me too much love 4 me be in the dark about who I side w/,” he said five years ago. “I f**k w nicki doe been did since elementary school.. they just twisted my words.” In 2021, Yachty tried to get Minaj to unblock him again by using her Young Money brethren Drake.
“It’s the Barbz, man. They’re still killing me,” he said to TMZ when asked about the tension again. “I woke up yesterday to a heat of fire under my butt from the Barbz. And the thing about that was I think I’m just big on loyalty. I got a lot of love for Cardi B and she’s a damn-near family member so I’ll do whatever. I’m gonna ride.”
He continued, “I’ve loved Nicki Minaj since I was a child… I even hit Drake. I’m like, ‘Yo Drake, tell Nicki I love her. I love her to death.’ I checked this morning, I’m still blocked.”
See Yachty speaking about Minaj unblocking him for the umpteenth time above.
