Inside Nicki Minaj’s parenting choices

Minaj, who married Petty in 2019, welcomed their baby boy in September 2020 during the COVID period.

In an interview with Vogue for the December issue, the Anaconda crooner shared they did not have any house help to help them in the house when they welcomed their son.

According to her, she and her husband navigated their son’s infant stage without any help other than a few visits from the boy’s grandparents.

“I’m not going to lie, things got testy between us. Because of our history, I think we knew we’d get past it. But there’s no such thing as confidence in parenthood. I kind of wish that someone had told me — although I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to understand it — that there’s a level of anxiety, and you think it’s going to go away, but in fact, it gets scarier,” she said.

Minaj also opened up about parenting choices that she and Petty have made for their son, including not allowing him to eat sweets or drink juice.

“This is because of illnesses like diabetes that run in our community. I’m not in favour of body positivity if it means unhealthy bodies,” she shared. “That’s bull. It’s not believable, so let’s stop pretending,” she added.

The award-winning rapper, in October 2022, took to social media to share that her son turned two on 30 September, and she threw a huge birthday party for him.

The superstar shared 14 stunning pics and videos of the birthday celebration that was attended by her celeb friends and rich neighbours.

The We Go Up hitmaker’s other celeb friends who couldn’t make it to the party showed love to her son in the proud mother’s comment section.
