Just when the world thought Taylor Swift couldn’t be any more impressive after scooping two Grammys,
she rocked up to her Tokyo tour yesterday and spoke Japanese.
The chart-topper picked up gongs for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for “Midnights.” She also dropped a bombshell during one of her acceptance speeches, announcing that she is releasing her new album “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19th.
Fresh from her win, the jet-setter headed to Tokyo for the Japan leg of her tour, which ends on Saturday. She is then rumored to head to Las Vegas to support her partner Travis Kelce and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, at Super Bowl 58. Swift would need to jump on a US-bound flight shortly after wrapping her final Tokyo show to make the approximate 11.5-hour flight and attend the Super Bowl.
A video posted to Twitter showed Swift greeting the crowd at the Tokyo Dome in Japanese, sparking frenzy among her fans, known as Swifties. The video was captioned, “Taylor Swift welcoming the crowd to the IRS tour in Japanese Tokyo,” with fans expressing their love and excitement for the singer’s multilingual skills.
Multiple fans on social media highlighted their experiences at the concert, sharing images and videos of the event. Swift thrilled the crowd with surprise performances of two different tracks, “Holy Ground” and “Dear Reader,” while teasing her upcoming album and expressing gratitude to her fans for their support.
Swift’s upcoming album announcement, made during her Grammy acceptance speech, sent shockwaves through social media, with fans eagerly anticipating its release. The artwork for the album, featuring Swift laying on a bed in black underwear, caused a stir on Instagram, garnering millions of likes within hours.
The Japanese Embassy confirmed Swift’s potential journey from Tokyo to Las Vegas, assuring fans that despite the time difference, she could comfortably make it to the Super Bowl after her concert.
Swift’s whirlwind of accomplishments, from Grammy wins to multilingual performances and surprise album announcements, continues to captivate fans worldwide, setting the stage for another great year for the pop star.
Newsweek has reached out to Taylor Swift’s talent agent for comment.
As she resumed her tour in Tokyo, Swift appeared in good spirits, thrilling fans with her performances and setting the stage for what promises to be another memorable year in her illustrious career.
