Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to grapple with the shadow cast by Tom Brady, despite his remarkable achievements on the field. In the aftermath of the Chiefs‘ triumph in Super Bowl, Mahomes openly addressed the ongoing comparisons to Brady, reflecting on his status in the pantheon of football legends.
Meanwhile, Mahomes admitted that his Super Bowl loss to Brady is a bitter pill he must perpetually swallow.

“To me, it’s always going to be tough because Brady beat me in a Super Bowl,” Mahomes said after winning Super Bowl LVIII.
“That’s the one thing he’ll always have on my head. It gives me something to strive for every single day is chasing greatness. Whenever I’m tired and I don’t want to work out, I know I have to do it in order to be in moments like this.”
Recording impressive stats
Notwithstanding his setback against Brady‘s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mahomes is constructing a compelling case for himself as one of the sport’s elites.
He has joined the exclusive club of players who have clinched at least three Super Bowl victories and two MVP titles before turning 28-an accolade previously attained only by Brady and Joe Montana.
While Mahomes’ statistics up to age 28 bear a striking resemblance to Brady’s, pundits underscore that Brady’s true greatness stemmed from his unparalleled longevity, playing until the age of 45 and sustaining exceptional performance in his twilight years.
Mahomes, cognizant of the lofty standards set by Brady, concedes that he has considerable ground to cover before ascending to the zenith of football greatness.
“I’ve had a great start,” Mahomes said.
“I’ve been put in a great situation early in my career. Not a lot of guys get to be put in this type of situation.
“But I have a long ways to go. I know I’m going into year seven, but Tom did it until he was 45 years old.
“I’m 27, so I know there’s a long ways to go before I can even be put in that conversation. I just got to continue to work and get better year in and year out.”
