Travis Kelce shares an emotional reunion with his brother Jackson as they make the heartfelt decision on whether to retire from or continue their football careers. 🏈
“In an emotional and unexpected turn of events, Jason Kelce’s future in the NFL seems uncertain after the Eagles’ heartbreaking loss to the Buccaneers.
As rumors swirled about his retirement, Kelce addressed the situation on his New Heights podcast with his brother Travis, shedding tears and leaving fans wondering about his next move.
Speculation had been brewing since Tuesday about the legendary center calling it quits following Philadelphia’s Wild Card defeat, but Kelce had remained tight-lipped.
In the podcast episode, he stated, ‘I didn’t intentionally reveal my plans, despite what’s been leaked to the media. But I believe people can sense body language and emotions.’
The 36-year-old, drafted by the Eagles in 2011, continued, ‘I just don’t think you’re in a position to make such a life-altering decision immediately after a game like that.
There’s too much emotion in the moment, too much happening to fully grasp such a decision.’
Kelce emphasized that he’s not trying to create drama or prolong the announcement, but he wants to ensure that when he does reveal his future plans, it will be done definitively and with respect to the people who have been a part of his journey.
Kelce’s contemplation of retirement began last season, and he documented his struggle in a popular Amazon Prime documentary.
He ultimately returned to play this season under a one-year contract, but he’s set to become a free agent in March.
Addressing his teammates after the Buccaneers’ defeat, Kelce shared his sentiments: ‘I have faith in each one of you. Cherish the moments you have in this league.’
Emotions ran high in the room, and Kelce expressed his gratitude for his teammates, regardless of what the future holds for him or the team.
As the season concludes, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni will address the team, followed by exit interviews, exit physicals, and the return of playbooks.
Kelce expects an emotional day ahead and noted that some players who know they won’t be returning will be clearing out their lockers.
In a poignant moment, Kelce hugged offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland as the clock ran out in Tampa.
He then shared a brief, emotional reunion with his family on the field, with his father, Ed, and wife, Kylie, cheering him on from the front row of the stands.
Kelce waved to them before making his way back to the locker room, tears welling up as he faced an uncertain future in the NFL.”
