The pair wrestled each other to the ground and had to be pulled apart by security before the gig ground to a halt.

The fight appeared to breakout after Anton asked his bandmate to leave the stage.

“Cut off this guy’s mic, put down my guitar, party’s over captain,” Anton can be heard saying to Ryan.

He added: “We actually don’t need you. Go. Put my guitar down on the stage and think about what’s happening.”

Ryan fired back: “You better think about this one, man. Because this is forever!” before putting his guitar down and walking offstage.

The pair then began pushing each other before Anton struck Ryan with his guitar.

Footage of the violent clash soon hit went viral on social media as those attending the gig uploaded the clips.

“What a bunch of babies,” commented one.

Another claimed the fight was not a surprise, adding: “This was just a matter of time. Saw them fairly early in the tour and the tension on stage was already thick like porridge.”

The group were nine dates into a 12-date tour of Australia and New Zealand, but the rest of the dates are now reportedly cancelled.

Brian Jonestown Massacre, who formed in San Francisco in 1990, are yet to release an official statement on the incident and their future as a group.

The Sydney Morning Herald reviewed the fateful show, and asked: “Was this the worst gig ever?”

The reviewer wrote: “Everything that could go wrong had gone wrong in a show that had fistfights, f***-yous to the band and the audience, and an enormous amount of faffing about between songs.”
