Jennifer Lopez has shocked fans with her announcement that she will soon retire from making music.

The 54-year-old star has hinted that her upcoming album, ‘This is Me… Now’, may well be her last. The highly anticipated release – which is her first studio album in a decade and ninth ever – pays homage to her iconic 2002 album, ‘This is Me… Then’, which she released during the early days of her romance with her now husband Ben Affleck, who she married back in 2022.

J.Lo says the latest release “took a lot out of” her and feels like “the end of an era”. It sounds like the multi-talented star may want to focus her attention elsewhere, like her beauty line – JLo Beauty – or producing and acting in more blockbusters.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the On The Floor singer said: “The truth is I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this.” Alluding to her controversial music manager, she added: “Don’t tell Benny that that’s what I’m thinking – this might be my last album ever.”

Jennifer and Benny’s professional relationship has been quite the rollercoaster through the years. Although today the duo make a superstar team, back in 2003 the star sued her manager for business misconduct. Thankfully, they managed to put their issues behind them and have continued making hit after hit over the past two decades.

Jenny ‘from the block’ said she felt “very excited” about her upcoming release, adding: “I feel like it’s the end of a kind of an era for me and the beginning of a new one, so I would never say never, but right now I feel like I really put my heart and soul into this and I’m very excited.”

It’s no surprise the iconic diva feels like she needs a break – she’s certainly had a busy few years – working on her new album which will be released on February 16 as well as producing and acting in three upcoming movies: Sci-fi thriller ‘Atlas’, ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’, and ‘The Godmother’ – in which Jennifer will star as the late drug lord Griselda Blanco.
