Lady Gaga murdered a rising pop star and stole her identity, according to a totally bonkers conspiracy theory.

The singer, 32, has been targeted by barmy conspiracy theorists who are convinced she killed off a rival and took her place.

The blood-thirsty Internet hoax has been doing the rounds for more than a decade with users of one online forum claiming Gaga pushed fellow singer Lina Morgana.

Reports suggest Gaga – then known as Stefani Germanotta – was scouted by the same agent as Lina, Rob Fusari, and they ended working together.

Stefani sang back-up vocals on a track she wrote which Lina released called Wunderland.

However, the pair’s quest for fame ended in huge success for one and tragedy for the other.

In 2007, Stefani got signed to Interscope Records and began working on her new persona as Lady Gaga.

A year later in 2008, Lina plunged to her death from the roof of the Staten Island Hotel in New York at the age of just 19 – while Lady Gaga became a huge chart star with the release of The Fame.

The conspiracy theorists are convinced Stefani was behind Lina’s fall and assumed her identity – even stealing her outrageous onstage persona to become Lady Gaga.

Many even claimed she referenced her former friend’s fall in her Paparazzi video, in which she’s tossed from a balcony by a lover.

The video also shows the front page of a newspaper, which reads: “Lady No More Gaga.”

Some theorists have believe “More Gaga” is a cryptic clise about Lina’s name “Morgana”.

There was a fresh wave of conspiracy theory addicts when Lina’s mother Yana spoke out against Gaga – accusing her of stealing her style, persona and even her tragic background from her daughter.

Yana claimed Gaga was from a wealthy family, but told Lina’s stories of a “dark and tragic life” to make herself seem more credible as an artist.

However, there are plenty of fans who have set about trying to disprove the theory – and one insisted there’s no way it could be true because Stefani/Gaga was in Los Angeles when Lina died.

In a post online, they wrote: “Lady Gaga was in Los Angeles, getting ready to travel to Ibiza where she filmed Poker Face video on 3rd, October of 2008.

“After the filming she went as an opening act for ‘The New Kids On The Block’, she wasn’t even in the city when Lina died.”
