Throughout the weekend, the web has been buzzing over rumors that Lady Gaga will soon become the Godmother to Elton John’s son, Zachary.

John’s partner and father to their two-month-old son, David Furnish, has hinted that  the 24-year-old singer will take on such role, although it has not been confirmed.

When asked in an interview with Macleans, a Canadian magazine, “Correct me if I’m wrong but Lady Gaga has been named Zachary’s godmother. What led you to choose her?” David Furnish replies, “We haven’t publicly confirmed that yet but your sources are very good! I prefer not to comment on it because we are going to make a statement about godparents later on.”

Furnish goes on to talk about how Canadians and Americans view sexuality and equal rights differently. Furnish, a Canadian, says, “I do feel Canada is much more progressive and more accepting on all sorts of levels relating to same-sex couples and families.”

Furnish says that Lady Gaga embodies an attitude that he’d like around his family. “She’s all about inclusiveness and tolerance. She believes that you can be whoever you want to be and that we don’t have to live in a world of conformity and that we can all [benefit] from individuality. That’s the best message in the world. The freedom to be who you are, do what you want and love who you want to love.”

That message is clearly evident in ‘Born This Way,’ Lady Gaga’s latest single that peaked at No. 1 in 13 countries and was dubbed by Elton John as, “the anthem that’s going to obliterate ‘I Will Survive.'”

Elton and Gaga’s latest collaboration is their duet, ‘Hello, Hello,’ featured in the 3D animated children’s flick, ‘Gnomeo and Juliet.’
