A new SBS comedy series that sends up celebrities using the latest high-tech has created a social media storm.

Deep Fake Neighbour Wars features near perfect CGI recreations of stars including including Kim Kardashian, Idris Elba and Usain Bolt.

Set in a fictional town in Britain, the skit-based show centres around all the phoney celebrities squabbling over petty complaints.

One hilarious episode has rapper Nicki Minaj and Spider-Man actor Tom Holland feature as a ‘married couple’ who end up in a feud with tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg.

In fact, all three celebrities are played by actors, while their images have been re-created using ‘deepfake’ technology.

Nicki responded to her send-up with this Tweet to her millions of followers

Meanwhile, the real Nicki Minaj used Twitter to respond to her send up.

‘Help!!’ she messaged her 27million followers.

‘What in the AI shapeshifting cloning conspiracy theory is this?!?!! I hope the whole internet get deleted!!!’ the performer joked.

After one fan questioned how Nicki’s face could be used for a skit show, the star answered with another humourous tweet.

‘I do not know! But as Queen of the British Monarchy & the commonwealth, I hereby abolish the internet. Effective @ 0900 military time tomorrow morning, 10th July, 20 hundred & 23. Bon voyage, Bitch.’

Nicki joked about shutting down the internet over the show

Some viewers appeared not to get the joke and worried about the ‘deepfake’ tech used in the show.

‘This is scary as f***,’ messaged one viewer on Twitter.

Another viewer ranted: ‘This is fearfully insane. Can you imagine the wars that will be started over recordings that never happened? Can you imagine the influential people who could be long dead and opps using this to sway people who follow them?’

Deep Fake Neighbour Wars will also feature an episode ‘starring’ Beyoncé,  Priyanka Chopra and Billie Eilish.

One concerned viewer appeared to not get the joke

Deep Fake Neighbour Wars has an almost identical storyline to the classic BBC 2 90's series Stella Street, which featured mega stars like Marlon Brando and Al Pacino sharing the same neighbourhood Pictured: Stella Street host 'Michael Caine' (actually actor Phil Cornwell)
