She is known for her curvaceous figure that is anything but out of shape.

But in a new interview with Marie Claire, Nicki Minaj reveals that she never hits the gym.

In a Q&A with her Twitter fans as part of a feature for the magazine, the 30-year-old tells one of her followers how physical activity has an adverse effect on her body.

When asked what her normal workout routine entails, Nicki tells @forevertrend_: ‘I don’t work out. I hate it. I don’t mean to sound super lazy. I tried it for a time.

‘I lost my boobs. When I feel I need to lose weight, I just change what I eat. I cut out carbs and sugar. I’ll do water and protein and fruit. But I do think that you should work out.

For her Marie Claire feature, fans of the Super Bass star get to see a more sophisticated side of the singer.

While she wears an array of her signature platinum wigs, in her photo shoot she models a more demure quilted red leather number and embellished tartan dress.

But as always, Nicki can’t help but show her racy side, squeezing into a very tight leather perforated dress teamed with a Mohican-style headpiece.

In her interview with the magazine, Nicki also reveals somewhat of a softer side in an effort of what she describes as ‘realizing that there are things about yourself that you can work on, you can be a better person, a nicer person’.

Nicki says when she was touring in Australia last year she had an ‘epiphany’ and started to think about children.

‘For the first time I allowed myself to be proud of where my music had gotten me, and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. You feel the need to pay it forward, which starts with analyzing yourself with a true desire to grow,’ she explains.

‘I was praying every day, “You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child.” I wanted all of the feelings of entitlement to leave me, becase some people have this life for a year or five or 10 – and a lot of them lose it.’

While Nicki has been rumoured to be dating her assistant Safaree Samuels for some time now, in her Marie Claire feature she reveals that she is single.

When one fan asks her who her ‘secret man’ is, Nicki simply replies ‘I don’t have a man. And if he were a secret man, why would I reveal him?’

The Moment 4 Life star recently scored her first film role after Nick Cassavetes saw the platinum blonde rapper on American Idol.

The famed director immediately cast her in his upcoming comedy The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton.

Nicki says she was shocked Cassavetes even considered her.

‘I was like, “Why does this guy believe in me?” He goes “I’ve been watching you on Idol, and you’re great,’ she says.

‘I would be lying if I said that I was not nervous,’ she tells one of her fans. ‘I can’t blow this.’

Singing and acting aside, Nicki says she has always had another vocation in mind – becoming a lawyer.

‘I just loved the thought of going into the courtroom with mostly men and defending someone – just being able to persuade people with your words,’ she explains.

‘It seems glamorous in a way. Very inspiring and very ballsy.’

And the Grammy Award-winning star not only thinks it’s important to be independent in your career, but also in your relationships.

‘Don’t chase any man. Put your school first,’ she tells one fan. ‘Men love independent women. You don’t have to be a b**ch, but there’s nothing wrong with it at times. And: Men are kids at heart. They want to be nourished and pet like a dog.’
