The Lakers will be active on the market before the February deadline, there is no doubt after the slap suffered against the Sixers this week. The leaders are already looking into several files, including that of a former All-Star and a former darling of the franchise!
In Los Angeles, mediocrity is forbidden, and even more so when LeBron James is in the squad. The King is one of the best players of all time, and he has the ambition that goes with that status. So even though he is getting older, he will always ask his managers to build a squad capable of playing for the title at the end of the season. Unfortunately for him, if we rely on the Lakers’ last games, that is not the case this year.
Yet Rob Pelinka worked hard all summer to make a series of important signings and extensions like Austin Reaves or Rui Hachimura. Moreover, the project was clear: to have as many solid role players as possible around the King and Anthony Davis, as was the case in 2020 for the last title won by the franchise.The Lakers going all-in on DeRozan and Caruso?
Except that the sauce is not taking for the moment, and after the huge slap received against the Sixers this week, movements seem inevitable. LeBron James himself called for change in the locker room, a way to publicly put pressure on his leaders. It was heard 5/5, since a big rumor has just come out in California. According to Jovan Buha, the Lakers are more interested in a trade around DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso than in a trade around Zach LaVine.
In recent weeks, the name of Zach LaVine has come up repeatedly in Los Angeles. But the leaders would not really be interested, they would rather prefer his two teammates DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso.
The latter was one of the public’s favorites during his Lakers debut, and finding him again would be a pleasure for everyone. On the other hand, for the former All-Star, the enthusiasm is more contained…

The Lakers would not only target one player on the market, but rather two, and not just any players.
DeMar DeRozan remains a great talent, and Alex Caruso’s defense would do a world of good for this squad which has certain deficiencies in the area.
