Unselfish Stephen Curry almost Sacrificed $201 Million to Make andre Iguodala and Kevin Durant’s Warriors Legacy Possible

There aren’t many examples of an athlete who personifies sacrifice. The sacrifice in question here is willing to let go of money and position for the greater good. The Golden State Warriors are one team that boasts such rare loyalty in the league. Superstar Stephen Curry is one such example of an athlete, willing to give up on personal benefits for his team.

The height of his loyalty to the Warriors is such that he was, at one point willing to sacrifice on a mammoth deal for andre Iguodala and Kevin Durant. Iguodala, who recently retired, was a key element in the dominance of the Warriors in last decade. Curry’s decision played a major role in establishing his and Durant’s Warriors legacy.

Stephen Curry’s loyalty to the Warriors

The 35-year-old is one of the greatest athletes to ever grace the game. Curry has been in the league since 2009, after being drafted by the Warriors. Since then, he has remained at Dub Nation and has achieved everything there is to achieve in the league. More importantly, the 4x NBA champion is an example of loyalty to your team. Despite being one of the hottest players in the market for so long, Curry never switched sides. additionally, when he was being offered the biggest contract in the league at the time, he showed reluctance so that the team could benefit from that money.

Curry was offered $201 million for five years. However, he wasn’t completely sure if he should go with that money. The reason behind his hesitation was that it’s a huge amount and there are some athletes that could be brought. In Curry’s opinion, bringing in or keeping athletes like Durant and Iguodala would be for the team’s greater good. Iguodala who announced his retirement on 20th October, won all four of his NBA titles with the Warriors. Similarly, Durant’s two championship rings are also a product of his time with the Warriors.

The Warriors are off to a great start

Last season, the Warriors reached conference semifinals but lost to the La Lakers 4-2. However, they are better prepared for the upcoming season. Especially with the signing of Chris Paul and wiping out all their preseason competition, the Warriors have presented a strong title contender case this year. although we are just days away from the new season, Dub Nation can be relieved because the Chef Curry-led team means business this time.
