What Happened to Angel Reese’s Boyfriend, Cam’Ron Fletcher?

Angel Reese was devastated after witnessing her beau Cam’Ron Fletcher in pain. The moment of anguish surfaced with less than five minutes left in a match between UNC and the Florida State Seminoles. Fletcher’s jump-shot attempt, like last season, ended up on his knee injury. And despite his best efforts to stand, he had to be assisted off the court and into the tunnel.

This turn of events on the first Saturday in December has become a nightmare for Fletcher, who hails from St. Louis and attends Vashon High School. He had to give up his dreams for the current NCAA season as he has been sidelined by a critical injury.

Season-ending injury for Cam’Ron Fletcher

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, while playing an away game in Virginia, he suffered an ACL tear, causing him to miss the entire season. Although he recovered from that injury, the 6-foot-7 senior hurt his knee again during a recent loss to North Carolina. The specific details of the injury have not been disclosed, but Fletcher shared on his Instagram page that he will be out for the rest of the season.

Last year with Torn ACL, Fletcher had to miss the season, and the tragedy again happened this season, which he wrote in his Instagram account: “Another season-ending injury… It hasn’t been a full year since I’ve been fully healthy. I’m very thankful for everyone who has had my back through the toughest times of my life. Going through this for the first time taught me a lot about myself and has also gotten me closer to God. When things aren’t going my way, I still put faith in the man above and pray daily because I know God has something stored for me. Although I haven’t played a full season of college basketball and have had two back-to-back injuries, I’m not discouraged by them. My path is my path, and everybody’s path is different. I really believe I’m him, and when my time comes, I’ll make the best of it. I’ll be back sooner than later.”

But Angel Reese has been staunchly supportive of him through his tough time, from posting encouraging notes on social media to getting him customized sweatshirts. She was just trying to ignite the power of resilience in Fletcher.

An ominous repeat of tragedy

The athlete, who returned to the court earlier than anticipated this season after a lot of hard work, had to suffer the double whammy. He was approved for full contact in October.

Three months apart, on December 4 of last year, Fletcher tore his ACL, and on December 2 of this year, he injured his knee. Simply vicious.

He appeared to be Florida State’s finest player going into that match last season. He was doing a good job of grabbing rebounds, driving hard to the hoop, and searching for his shot. But in less than a year, he had two severe injuries to the same knee.
