Which Record Did Angel Reese and Co. Break? Explore LSU’s Blowout Win vs McNeese

The Tigers are roaring. In their recent matchup against McNeese State, the Lady Tigers brutally thrashed the Cowgirls, without leaving any chance for them to get back on their feet. The audience at Pete Maravich Assembly Center witnessed a pure display of spearheading action by the Tigers on Tuesday night as Angel Reese and team broke records while grabbing a 133-44 win over the McNeese State Cowgirls.

The Tigers are the defending champions. Let’s learn what records did they make and break.

Angel Reese and co. touching the limits

In Tuesday’s matchup, Angel Reese and her team broke the record of scoring the maximum number of points in a single game. They scored 133 points leading LSU to a fabulous victory margin of a whopping 89 points. This was the type of game where the players were trying different things and seeing what could work later on.

#7 LSU had a cakewalk and broke the program’s scoring record in a single game. By halftime, the Tigers had already made 10 steals. The score by halftime stood at 62-12 with McNeese not being allowed to score a single point in the second quarter. This led to a lead of 50 points at halftime.

On the court it seemed like the Cowgirls were at the mercy of the Tigers, barely making it to go through the halftime. McNeese had 24 turnovers, almost twice the points it scored at that time. Meanwhile, Angel made 6 steals, leading the team, followed by Falu’jae hitting 5 and Mikaylah adding 4 to that.

Off those 36 turnovers, the Tigers easily made 52 points. In addition, LSU Freshman Aalyah Del Rosario led the Tigers with 27 points, with Williams adding 26 points. Moreover, Aneesah Morrrow put together another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Reese scored 21 points and 10 boards and Johnson pushed 16.

But, this isn’t the first time that LSU has done that.

LSU breaking its own records

On Tuesday night, LSU scribbled another entry in history by surpassing its own previous record point total of 125, which was set in a 125-41 win over Bellarmine in November 2022. Moreover, the Tigers eclipsed their 76-point victory margin in a 104-28 win over Prairie View in 1995, by setting a new stretch of 89-point margin.

Surely the Tigers are warming up to the season and their performance is a declaration that there is none to mess around with the defending champions.
