NBA – In the midst of a relapse, a big rumor is intensifying at the Lakers!

In the midst of a crisis, the Lakers have been the subject of rumors for many weeks. They would thus be looking for reinforcements in order to compensate for some of their shortcomings, but some elements could interfere with the propriety of the discussions.

Since the start of the season, inconsistency has characterized the Lakers squad. The victories are often sluggish and the defeats disappointing, and we must add to this the recurring injuries of several of their players. As a result, the Purple & Gold, 11th in the West (19-21), are in full discussions for the acquisition of a star leader. Adrian Wojnarowski spoke on the subject for NBA Today:

The Hawks are ready to trade Dejounte Murray and end his association with Trae Young. They have spoken with the Lakers about a potential trade, but negotiations are underway with many teams. And when we look at the Lakers roster, we wonder which players could interest the Hawks. The question is also what they are willing to give up for Murray.

The Dejounte Murray file at the Lakers becomes complicated

Always well informed, Woj’ therefore affirms that discussions have already taken place between Hawks and Lakers regarding Murray. Problem: the Angelinos are not the only ones on the file and will therefore have to offer a nice package to attract the favor of Atlanta. It would also seem that a player must necessarily be there for the negotiations to succeed. In any case, this is what Jake Fischer from Yahoo Sports reports:

Sources indicate that the deal sending Murray to Los Angeles only appears feasible if the Lakers are willing to include (Austin) Reaves, but that would require the Hawks to send higher value assets in return.

A possibility that Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times immediately clarified with additional information:

Dejounte Murray is indeed a player the Lakers are interested in, and the Hawks would surely demand Austin Reaves first in negotiations. The Lakers, however, have not expressed interest in parting ways with Reaves despite some defensive regression this season, and even if they did trade him for Murray, there is real skepticism that it would “disrupt things “.

It’s a phrase we often hear when we talk about the Lakers and their plans for the deadline. If the price to pay to get Murray is a 1st round pick and a winnable young player right now, the Lakers couldn’t pay it without including Reaves. However, sources indicate that there have been no discussions regarding transferring Austin Reaves.

This transfer period looks like a real headache for the Lakers. Dejounte Murray appears to be a very interesting profile given their needs, but seems difficult to access without the loss of Austin Reaves.
