Luka Doncic Will Not Match LeBron James’ Stardom Despite Leading Crucial Stat, as Per NBA Veteran

What is common, exciting, and found in any sporting culture? Player comparisons! This often makes for a good conversation as the fans get to engage in an enthusiastic debate where they vouch for their favorite players. However, this doesn’t always turn out the way one would want it to.

Recently an NBA veteran lashed out at a stat comparison between LeBron James and Luka Doncic. Now both these players are considered to be really good, but NBA veteran Eddie Johnson doesn’t think that Luka can ever match up to LeBron.

The NBA stats, especially when handpicked, often bring up a unique perspective in players’ comparisons. This is what happened when Luka and LeBron were compared recently.

Popular platform StatMuse compared the 6th season of the two players and the records show that the Dallas Mavericks star has an upper hand against the LA Lakers superstar.

In the 6th season of his career, Luka averaged 33.7 points per game as compared to LeBron’s 28.4 PPG. The stat goes even further, highlighting a stark contrast between the two.

In his 6th season, Luka had 8.2 rebounds per game for LeBron’s 7.6 rebounds per game. The Mavs star also leads the chart for the average assists with 9.2 per game while LeBron stands at 7.2.

Now the stat is surely mind-boggling when we consider that LeBron is considered one of the best players of all time, whereas Luka still has a lot of distance to cover to reach that point. Interestingly, Johnson doesn’t believe that Luka will ever get there, even after he ends his career.

Infuriated by the post, he wrote, “This post is so dumb. What are you insinuating? Please explain?” The NBA veteran then went on to blatantly disrespect the Mavs star only to make his claim on LeBron.

“If you are not in the club of Goat and Luka as great as he will be when his career is done, will not be in a club reserved for MJ, Magic, Kareem and LBJ. Why post this? 🙂. Not fair to him!”, he continued.

Now, an argument can be made that the league has progressed a lot, and it has become easier to score.

Regardless, dismissing a talented young player like Luka who has already embarked on the right path toward greatness is a low blow coming from an NBA veteran.
