Barry Keoghan has confirmed his split from his long-term girlfriend Alyson Kierans.

The Irish actor, 31, was reported to have parted ways with Alyson last summer after the birth of their 15-month-old son Brando.

He is now believed to have moved on with American singer Sabrina Carpenter, 24, who bears an uncanny resemblance to his former flame.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Barry was asked about reports the couple had gone their separate ways.

He said: ‘She’s [Alyson] done a great job, and she’s an incredible mother.’ The publication noted he offered no further information on the split.

The Saltburn star discussed fatherhood in the interview, saying he feels an ‘enormous amount of pressure’ to be a good dad.

He added: ‘I can’t get the little boy off my mind. It’s beautiful. Y’know, it’s crazy, but when he looks at you, you feel like the most important person in the world.

‘That’s the effect he has on me. He smiles at you and you’re like, “Wow, you’re smiling at me like that? I don’t deserve that, but anyways, thanks.”

At the time reports of the split first emerged, it was said the pair were ‘determined to do the best for their son’ after they decided to break up following rows about late night partying.

A source told The Sun: ‘They’ve grown apart over recent months and things have finally come to a head. As far as she’s concerned, it’s over.’

Irish actor Barry, who won a BAFTA for his supporting role in The Banshees of Inisherin, met dentist Alyson in a London bar back in February 2021.

The couple made their red carpet debut in October of that year and they put on a very loved-up display as they packed on the PDA while posing for snaps together.

They then confirmed they were expecting their first child together in June 2022 and welcomed their son Brando just two months later in August.

Barry has since been linked with singer Sabrina Carpenter following his split from Alyson.

The rumoured new couple were believed to be going public with their romance at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills on Sunday night –  but Barry hit the red carpet solo.

The actor and US singer Sabrina were first linked last month when they were seen going out for dinner in Los Angeles.

A source told The Sun: ‘Barry thought it was best that Alyson was the first to know about him and Sabrina so she wouldn’t be hurt if she found out on social media.

‘He is spending a lot of time in the States and has invited Sabrina to be his ‘plus one’ at the Golden Globes.

‘Alyson and Barry still communicate for the sake of Brando and he has been open about his new relationship.’

Barry has been spending more time in the US after previously setting home with Alyson in Dundee, Scotland in the months after the birth of their son.

The rising star split from his ex Shona Guerin after another move. The former couple met on a night out in Shona’s hometown of Killarney back in 2017, and were living together in Los Angeles before their split in 2020.

At the time, it was reported that the pair had parted ways after moving back to the UK while Barry was shooting for The Batman – which saw him play the Joker.

As for Sabrina’s exes, she was most recently connected to singer Shawn Mendes, 25.

However Shawn denied that there was anything romantic between them before she was pictured out for dinner with Barry in Brentwood, Los Angeles, before Christmas.

Shawn and Sabrina were first linked romantically in February when they were spotted out on a walk and the following month they attended Miley Cyrus’ album release party and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party together.

That same month, a source told ET: ‘Shawn and Sabrina are seeing each other. They have been hanging out a lot and trying to keep things low-key.’

The source continued: ‘They were at a birthday party together a couple weeks ago and were cute together. Shawn is happy.’

Sabrina rose to fame on Disney channel’s Girl Meets World as Maya Hart before embarking on a successful solo pop career.

However she made a bid for child stardom when she finished third place in a singing competition run by the Miley Cyrus website.

The star hails from Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania and was born to her parents Elizabeth and David Carpenter.

Sabrina is the niece of Nancy Cartwright, who is best known for her long-running role as the voice of Bart Simpson on the Simpsons cartoon.

The Disney star enjoyed a series of small roles in a film on the channel Gulliver Quinn as well as appearances in other movies such as Horns.

In the same year that Girl Meets World began, Sabrina signed with Hollywood Records and released her debut single and EP, Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying.

Subsequent albums, Eyes Wide Open (2015), Evolution (2016), Singular Act I (2018), Singular Act II (2019).

After moving to Island Records in 2021, the following year Sabrina launched her fifth studio album, Emails I Can’t Send.

Other career highlights include a Broadway debut in Mean Girls and touring with Taylor Swift on her Eras tour.

Barry has been the talk of Hollywood thanks to his starring role in Emerald Fennell’s movie Saltburn.

The actor has earned a string of 2024 award season nominations for his role as Oliver Quick in the controversial movie, but lost out on a Golden Globe on Sunday to Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy, 47, who scooped Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture.
