Derek Hough revealed his wife Hayley Erbert was rushed into emergency surgery after suffering a cranial hematoma while on their Symphony of Dance tour.

On Thursday morning, the dancer, 38, revealed to his 3.2 million Instagram followers that his spouse, who he wed in August, suffered from a possibly life-threatening, complication of head trauma, which causes blood to accumulate ‘within the brain or between the brain and the skull,’ according to Mayo Clinic.

‘At the end of last night’s tout performance in Washington, D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,’ he wrote. ‘She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition.’

‘I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her. I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time,’ Hough added.

Underneath the post, Hough and Erbert received an outpouring of love and support from their Dancing with the Stars’ family.

‘Omg sending all my love to you and Hayley and hoping for the speediest of recoveries ❤️,’ Ariana Madix, who competed on DWTS’ 32nd season, commented.

Dancer and choreographer, Allison Holker, also extended her ‘love, healing and prayers’ to the couple.

‘Oh my friend sending love and keeping her in our thoughts for a full recovery. So scary ❤️,’ Josh Groban wrote underneath the post, which has received 206,184 likes in just two hours.

Erbert’s medical emergency comes almost a year exactly after her and Hough were involved in a a ‘scary’ car crash.

At the time, she told her social media followers they had been in a ‘pretty scary car accident in the mountains’ on December 12, 2022.

She went on to describe the terrifying elements of their crash: ‘Our accident involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we would slide off the mountain.’

‘The scariest part was that Hayley doesn’t remember anything,’ Derek shared in the comments section, at the time. ‘She was dazed afterwards, being cheerful saying we should keep going to dinner as blood ran down her face.’

‘That really scared me,’ wrote Hough. ‘She came to 20 minutes later when the firemen arrived.’

Earlier this year, the lovebirds wed during a beautiful ceremony in a magnificent forest of Redwood trees.

A-listers in attendance included Frieda Pinto, Amy Purdy, Maria Menounos, Shawn Johnson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, Robert and Kym Herjavec, Alfonso Ribeiro, and of course, Derek’s sister, Julianne Hough.

According to Brides, the duo couple exchanged vows in front of 106 guests.

‘He’s definitely going to cry. I know that for a fact,’ Derek’s wife joked before the ceremony.

She added that, ‘Honestly, both of us. We’re going to be a mess!’

The rehearsal dinner was just as elegant as the ceremony itself, with the wedding guests being wined and dined in Carmel first for a welcome dinner, followed by a rehearsal dinner the next day, with many details planned by the brunette beauty herself.

Hough and Erbert kicked off their tour on September 28, 2023, a month after tying the knot.

It is unknown whether Erbert’s health scare will affect their upcoming tour dates. Their next show is scheduled for Thursday, in Virginia Beach.
