host selena gomez, as seen on selena chef home for the holidays, season 5

Nothing gets our hearts racing like getting glimpses into celebrity’s lives and homes—in a non-creepy way, of course. Recently, we’ve gotten an in-depth look at Hailey Bieber’s marble-clad kitchen and Ina Garten’s epic home office. Even Drew Barrymore reminded us that celeb’s can have messy rooms too, okay? Thankfully, with Selena Gomez’s reality show Selena + Chef, we’ve gotten a few good looks into her kitchen over the years. Gomez has a new, four-part series airing through the end of the year called Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays in which the singer and her best friend, Raquelle Stevens, cook their favorite holiday recipes alongside professional chefs. In a new Reel posted by the Food Network’s Instagram account to promote the series, Gomez reveals a little tidbit about her life that made us love her even more.

In the video, Gomez is asked what she eats on a typical Tuesday night at home, and she responds by saying, “I’m definitely eating something my nana made probably the night before.” She goes on to say, “I live with my grandparents, so we are always in the kitchen, always cooking, and we have leftovers.” We love a non-wasteful queen who also loves her family, and so do the comments on the video. “I like that a millionaire ‘lives with her grandparents’ and not ‘my grandparents live with me.’ So humble,” one commenter wrote. Another said, “Lives with her grandparents, that’s the sweetest thing in the world. They are so lucky to have each other.”

According to ELLE, Gomez and her roomies—er, grandparents—live in her Encino home, which used to belong to the late Tom Petty. She reportedly bought the property in 2020 for $4.9 million after it had switched owners a number of times. The over 11,000-square-foot home was built by Petty and his wife, Jane Benyo, in 1989, and has six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The L.A. Times reports her three-story house also includes a wine cellar, home gym, pool, private cabana, recording studio, and a conversation pit to list a few luxury amenities.

The elegant backdrop of Selena + Chef shows the bright kitchen of the home as well as occasionally the airy living room and painted brick fireplace. The mansion has rustic touches with modern amenities and finishes, but we especially love the alcove stove and marble countertops, as seen in the Food Network post above. We’re sure Gomez’s grandparents love it too!
