Katie Holmes flashed a smile on Monday evening as she celebrated her 45th birthday in New York City.

The former Dawson’s Creek sensation was joined by her 17-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Katie was clad in a long-sleeved black dress with feather details along the cuffs and a pair of pointy-toe white boots.

She draped a long ivory-colored coat over her shoulders and carried a black leather purse.

The actress’ daughter was outfitted in sheer black tights, a long gray coat, and a thick, maroon, patterned scarf was wrapped around her neck.

Holmes’ brunette locks were styled straight and tucked behind her ears as they flowed over her chest.

She had a light face of makeup on, which was rounded out with pale pink lipstick.

Katie was married to Tom from 2006 until 2012. Suri was born in April 2006.

Last summer, Katie revealed that her daughter recorded a cover of the song Blue Moon for her film Alone Together, which the movie star wrote, directed and starred in.

‘She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing,’ Holmes told Yahoo! Entertainment.

She noted, ‘That’s the way I direct in general. It’s like, “This is what I think we all want — go do your thing.”‘

On why she asked her daughter to sing in the film, she answered: ‘I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her.’

Holmes also revealed that Suri sang in Rare Objects, a project Katie also wrote, directed, and starred in that was released in April.
