ELON Musk has added more fuel to his battle with MrBeast after the YouTuber publicly rejected the X boss.

The tech billionaire released a subtle message for creators after his platform’s monetization was criticized by Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast.

A user on X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed that the platform had paid over 80,000 creators through the ads revenue sharing program in less than a year.

Musk cosigned the tweet, giving people a glimpse of what’s to come.

“Creator rewards will increase significantly this year,” he wrote.

The update on more rewards for creators came just days after an exchange between MrBeast and Musk.

On December 30, MrBeast tweeted out that he’d posted a new video and urged his followers to go watch.

An X user replied, “Upload on this platform too,” and Musk replied, “Yeah.”

But MrBeast quickly shot down the request, writing, “My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X, it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it :/

“I’m down though to test stuff once monetization is really cranking!”

MrBeast has gained a massive fanbase on YouTube with more than 225 million subscribers and 40 billion views.

He joined the platform in February 2012 and became known for his huge donations after he started gaining sponsorships.

MrBeast is not the only social media star who has spoken out about X’s creator reward program.

KSI admitted on Logan Paul’s podcast, IMPAULSIVE, that despite having 8.9 million followers on X, he had only made $1,590 on X.

Paul agreed with the YouTuber, revealing the pay is much lower than on other websites.

“Comparatively…to other platforms, for hundreds of millions on YouTube, that’s hundreds of thousands of dollars,” said Paul.

Creator monetization is fairly new for the company, as it was first unveiled in July 2023, according to The Verge.

When the company first introduced the program, content creators needed to subscribe to Twitter Blue to participate.

They were also required to have at least 15 million impressions on a cumulative post and 500 or more followers.

“We want the process to be as simple as possible, so all eligible X Blue and Verified Organizations subscribers are entitled to revenue share so long as they meet the eligibility criteria and join,” the company wrote.

However, the next month, they would lower the eligibility threshold for ad revenue from 15 million to 5 million impressions.

“This essentially means that X Premium (fka Twitter Blue) is free for accounts that generate above 5M views,” Musk chimed in after the news was out.

“Note, only views from verified handles count, as scammers will otherwise use bots to spam views to infinity.”
