World’s weirdest cars from iconic Popemobile to ‘Plastic Pig’ three-wheeler and even a dung-beetle inspired minivan

Car pros stated that the ability to design a truly incredible car hasn’t improved though technology has drastically

CAR pros have released a list of some of the world’s wackiest cars including one that grew popular after an attempted assassination.

One of the UK’s leading providers of car and van leasing compiled a list of what it deems the most weird vehicles ever made.

Nationwide Vehicle stated that the ability to let the mind run free and design a truly incredible car certainly hasn’t improved though technology has drastically.

Automobiles have been on roads across the world since the 1920s.

In the 100 years since then, car experts stress that people have surely come up with strange designs from time to time.

1930 SCOUT SCARAB

The 1930 Scout Scarab is credited as one of the world’s first minivans.

Car pros said it earned its place on its list for its almost-comedic design.

Its style is compared to the look of a Mediterranean dung beetle.

The odd-looking vehicle was created by William Stout.

The car designer was originally an aircraft engineer.

The Scarab was made with a long and narrow body that dipped towards the rear end.

RELIANT ROBIN

The Reliant Robin was introduced to the world in October 1973.

It’s an iconic three-wheeled car that initially took off in the UK because of its cheap running costs and affordable price.

The car has become a big part of many jokes in British popular culture due to its ability to roll over if turned too sharply.

Many drivers don’t like the way it looks, either.

The vehicle earned itself the nickname The Plastic Pig because of its exterior and fiberglass body.

1961 AMPHICAR

Car experts say that the 1961 Amphicar was made to be a car and a boat merged into one.

That being said, it didn’t work out well either.

On the water, it could only reach seven mph.

On land, the vehicle took around 40 seconds to reach 60mph.

The Amphicar was sold between 1961 and 1968.

Production of the automobile stopped in 1965 with a total of 3,878 vehicles sold.

THE POPEMOBILE

The Popemobile is a car that’s said to have emerged after the assassination attempt of Pope John Paul II in 1981.

The vehicle is made with a very unique exterior.

The most eye-catching element is the large bulletproof glass box sitting on top of the car.

That’s where the Pope stands and greets the crowds who come out to see him drive by.

1970 FERRARI 512S MODULO

The 1970 Ferrari 512S Modulo came out one year after the first man landed on the moon.

Auto experts say that event must have inspired Ferrari to create “the most spaceship-like car ever made.”

The car is made with a long, flat body.

It has wide windows and a nearly horizontal windshield.

The inside cabin is accessed by sliding the glass shield down.

Only one model of the vehicle was ever made.

It was sold to an American enthusiast in 2014.
