Jennifer Lopez’s ambitious new original film This Is Me…Now: A Love Story is plenty star-studded.

From husband Ben Affleck and longtime collaborator Fat Joe to Monster-in-Law costar Jane Fondaand Keke Palmer, the project is rife with A-list talent.

But as seen in the Prime Video documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the list of famous faces that were almost in the movie is just as intriguing.

Lopez, 54, ended up bringing Fonda, Palmer, Trevor Noah, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Sofia Vergara, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty, Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Sadhguru into the fold as the hilarious zodiac council, an astrologically inspired group that meets to dissect Lopez’s love life from the heavens above.

Fat Joe came on board as her therapist, while Derek Hough stole the show with his dance moves as one of Lopez’s husbands.

At one point in the documentary, Lopez sits with her team as they discuss the offers they extended to various stars ahead of filming.

The “Can’t Get Enough” singer is told that Taylor Swift “is a no,” while Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge and Lizzo are unavailable.

At one point, someone suggests Lopez’s Second Act costar Vanessa Hudgens to play one of Lopez’s friends in the film, though she’s also deemed unavailable.

“It’d be good to get Bad Bunny to do a little cameo,” Lopez suggests, while names like James Corden, Ariana Grande and Snoop Dogg are also thrown into the mix as people who are unavailable.

“I don’t want to force anybody to do this who doesn’t go, ‘This is gonna be fun,’” Lopez tells her crew. “Nobody wants to say no to me…. I get that. But when an actor doesn’t like a script or doesn’t think it’s good enough or is worried about it, that’s what they’ll say. I know that. I’ve done it.”

At one point, Lopez also tells choreographer Sienna Lalau that Khloé Kardashian was “supposed” to be in the film, but will no longer be.

“People [are] scared to put themselves out there. I get it,” she says. “Took me a long time. I’m scared.”

Then there’s In the Heights star Anthony Ramos, who Lopez says backed out of a role as one of her character’s partners due to his friendship with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“He was like, ‘Ah, I’m friends with Marc.’ I’m not even playing me in this. There’s a protagonist, this woman, that goes on this journey,” Lopez tells her wardrobe stylist Shawn “Beezy” Barton in the doc. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, I just think that people are gonna think that — you know how the media is.’”

Later, viewers see Lopez on the phone with Ramos, and she tells him she was unaware of his friendship with Anthony, with whom she shares twins Max and Emme, 16.

“He’s the father of my kids, obviously. I’m never going to do anything that’s going to really like, pinpoint him out,” she tells Ramos. “But it is very meta, it is about kind of the 20-year journey between that last album and this album and a lot of things happen. And it was a lot of relationships that I was in. That thing that you’re playing in it is representative of many relationships, not one specific relationship.”

Of course, all worked out in the end for Lopez, whose zodiac council proves a highlight of This Is Me…Now: A Love Story.

“Most of them were like, ‘What the hell are we doing?’ So it was really fun,” the film’s director Dave Meyers told PEOPLE of getting everyone on board with the out-of-the-box concept. “Fun and terrifying.”
