Love them or loathe them, there’s no denying the Kardashians are the beauty icons of our generation. Even if you haven’t been following their now-defunct reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, over the past decade, we’ll bet you’ve dabbled in contouring and glass hair…Amiright? Both beauty trends were spearheaded by the Kardashian sisters and have been emulated by women all over the globe ever since; brands have even created a plethora of products inspired by the trends. In fact, both Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have created a billion-dollar empire through their brands so there’s no denying the unstoppable force of this famous family.

From Kim giving us lessons in how to chisel our faces via contouring or Kylie demonstrating the power of a plump pout via her iconic Lip Kits, TV’s most famous family are responsible for some of the most major beauty trends. The sisters have also trialled pretty much every hair colour under the sun, from rose gold to bleach blonde (anyone else remember the day Kim went peroxide?), thus giving us some major hair colour inspo.

As well as blessing us with a plethora of beauty techniques, the beauty gurus have also launched their own products to help their fans emulate their world-famous look. Indeed, Kim has teamed up with pretty much every member of her family on her KKW beauty collection and Kylie became the world’s youngest beauty billionaire courtesy of her cosmetic range.

However, before the five sisters had a roster of makeup artists and skincare gurus on speed-dial, they each plumped for a much more pared back approach to beauty and one they’re probably opting for during the isolation period because who really needs contour right now?

Well, perhaps not. Khloe Kardashian hit headlines this week after she was pictured in a bikini by a pool looking damn good in an unfiltered picture that was shared to her social media ‘by mistake’. Her team are said to have been working hard to ensure the image was removed from social media and, of course, the Internet had thoughts.

But Khloe, 36, has now responded to the controversy, saying that despite deeming the picture ‘beautiful’, she will continue to portray her images the way she wants to and that anyone should “have the right” to request a photo is taken down if they want, “regardless of who you are.” She compared Instagram filters, good lighting and editing to wearing makeup, having her nails done and putting on a pair of heels. “I can use them to present myself to the world the way I want to be seen and it’s exactly what I will continue to do unapologetically,” she said.

Khloe’s post has been met with mixed responses. “Lol yes I read Khloe Kardashian’s statement and while I have empathy for her, she is currently part of the problem. This is sick and she needs professional help, not a platform where she lives a lie and separates young women from their money by teaching them to hate themselves,” wrote one woman on Twitter.

Others were quick to sympathise with the star, with one writing: “I don’t understand the drama surrounding the @khloekardashian pic, she looks amazing and happy! Instead of demonizing her for having photos taken down maybe show her your support. Maybe she wouldn’t feel the need to do this if ppl stopped ripping apart her appearance.”
