Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has confirmed that Kadarius Toney is going to be staying with the team this summer despite reports linking him with a move.

Speaking during an official press conference, Reid explained just how important the receiver is to the Chiefs despite having a very tough year.

In 2023, he only made 27 receptions for 169 yards and just a single touchdown, which is why many fans thought that he would be out the exit door during the off-season.

Injuries, dropped passes and a controversial social media incident marred his debut season with the Chiefs and led to those poor numbers, but Reid is giving him another chance.

Reid bats for Toney

“Kadarius is arguably one of the most talented guys we have on the team,” the coach said. “It’s just a matter of staying healthy and being able to stay on the field.

“I’m expecting him to come back ripping and ready to go,” Reid mentioned in his press conference on Monday. He further reiterated his point of opportunity by saying: “We like Kadarius, it’s just a matter of having him on the field.”

Toney is known to have been working hard in the off-season down in Texas, working alongside Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the most important offensive players that the Chiefs have.

“It’s great that he’s down there working with Pat and putting the work in,” Reid said, “That’s a positive!”

It is clear that Reid thinks his most important players can have a positive impact on Toney and allow the receiver to have a much more promising second year with the Chiefs.
