Arnold Schwarzenegger and his pet pig are getting their steps in!

“Nothing like a Tuesday morning walk with my Schnelly!” the Terminator talent, 76, wrote in an Instagram caption on April 9. The post included a video of himself and the extended family member strolling along.

“Join me in my challenge – sign up for the newsletter, and shoot for raising your daily step average by 1,000 steps,” his caption concluded.

The clip showed the pig following closely behind Schwarzenegger, oinking all the way.

“Looks like Schnelly is getting some cardio in!! @schwarzenegger,” one user commented.

When the former California governor announced he’d gotten Schnelly in April 2023, FOX 11 reported that “schnell” means “fast” in German — which was fitting because the pig was said to be quick on its feet.

Schnelly did a great job keeping up with Schwarzenegger as he continues to recover from having a pacemaker implanted following three previous open-heart surgeries.

He shared his experience during an episode of his Arnold’s Pump Club podcast last month.

“Last Monday, I had surgery to become a little bit more of a machine: I got a pacemaker,” he said of the March 18 procedure, assuring his supporters that he was “doing great.”

“I had my surgery on Monday, and by Friday, I was already at a big environmental event with my friend and fellow fitness crusader Jane Fonda,” Schwarzenegger continued. “Nobody would ever have thought I started the week with a surgery.”

The Predator actor also thanked his “whole team at the Cleveland Clinic” for the “amazing care” they provided.

Schwarzenegger had two surgeries in 1997 to replace his pulmonic valve and aortic valve. Both were replaced in 2018 and 2020. Scar tissue from his last surgery caused an irregular heartbeat, which was told to monitor, Schwarzenegger said.

In a YouTube video shared by Schwarzenegger in September 2023, he recalled one of his past surgeries being “a disaster.”

While sharing his road to recovery, the former action star said every bit counts — simply getting out of bed and walking 10 steps eventually turned into him walking around the nurses’ station at the hospital and then moving on to longer distances.

Now he is back home, enjoying his walks with Schnelly.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and pets

Schwarzenegger confessed that it was his Batman & Robin costar George Clooney who piqued his interest in pigs while promoting his 2014 film Sabotage.

“I always liked that he was into pigs; he has this little pig that he takes everywhere,” Schwarzenegger said, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

“So I bought a pig right after that,” the actor added. “Only thing is, I must’ve bought the wrong one because, in no time, it was 300 pounds and I could barely lift the son of a gun.”
