Time shared the news on Tuesday morning while revealing the edition’s cover with Mahomes on it.

And NFL fans rushed to congratulate the Chiefs star on social media.

“You deserve this Patrick. I love how humble and grateful you are. And how you give the Lord the glory,” one wrote.

“The perfect example of how to use your influence for good. Deserved!” another added.

“You the Man, Patrick!” a third said.

“Keep on shining bright like the star you are… This is your time,” one wrote.

The magazine also shared a lengthy interview with Mahomes as well as MLB star Alex Rodriguez’s Time 100 tribute to the Chiefs quarterback.

“Patrick Mahomes has always had the heart of a champion,” Rodriguez wrote.

“I remember Pat as a young kid, coming to practice with his dad to tee up baseballs for me and my teammates.

“I distinctly remember giving him the worst advice ever. ‘Don’t play football. The money’s in baseball.’

“I’m happy to be wrong and glad he didn’t listen!

“Patrick has transcended the game of football to become one of the most respected athletes of all time, both on and off the field.

“His insatiable desire to win is outdone only by his passion to give back and make the world around him better.

“Patrick’s legacy will live on far beyond his playing days. And — as evidenced by his back-to-back Super Bowl wins — he’s not done yet!”

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII last February.

The victory earned the ex-Texas Tech standout his third championship ring.

But the quarterback told Time he’s still “nowhere near” the GOAT status.

“You have to build a consistency of a career,” Mahomes said.

“You see that in any sport. I’ve had a great run. I think I’ve done a great job so far. But it’s hard to take away from what Tom [Brady] did for so long, what Peyton Manning did, or Aaron Rodgers.

“There are so many guys, they were at such a high level for such a long time.

“In order to be in that conversation, you have to do that on a year-to-year basis.”
