Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy’s classic thriller “Red Eye” is currently one of the trending titles on Netflix globally. Here’s what to know about the film and how to watch in the US.

The classic psychological thriller “Red Eye” (2005), starring Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy, is currently the seventh most-watched movie on Netflix worldwide. However, in the US, the film is not available on the platform but you can watch it on Fubo (seven-day free trial), Paramount+ and MGM+.

Directed by Wes Craven, the movie revolves around Lisa Reisert (McAdams), a young woman who finds herself seated next to a charming stranger named Jackson Rippner (Murphy) during a late-night flight home. Initially, their conversation is friendly and innocuous. However, Lisa soon discovers that Jackson is not who he appears to be when he reveals that he’s part of a terrorist plot.

“Red Eye” is praised for its taut suspense, clever dialogue, and strong performances, particularly from McAdams and Murphy. However, despite being well received by critics and audiences alike, Murphy is not particularly a fan of the film. Here’s what the recent Oscar-winner had to say about the thriller.

Why Cillian Murphy doesn’t like ‘Red Eye’?

In a recent interview with GQ, published right before his historic Oscar win as Best Actor for “Oppenheimer,” the Irish actor opened up about the fact that he hasn’t watched most of his films. However, he has seen “Red Eye” and isn’t too fond of it.

“I love Rachel McAdams and we had fun making it,” he explained, “But I don’t think it’s a good movie. It’s a good B movie.” Talking about the thriller, he revealed that he was attracted to the part due the “duality” of the role.

“It’s why I wanted to play it. That ‘two’ thing. The nice guy and the bad guy in one,” he said of his character. “The only reason it appealed to me is you could do that. That turn, you know?” he added.

Meanwhile, McAdams also shared her thoughts on the film for the story: “They say the nicest people sometimes make the best villains,” she said. The actress also shared more about their time on set.

“We’d listen to music and gab away while doing the crossword puzzle, which he brought every day and would graciously let me chime in on.… I think the number one question I got about Cillian way back then was whether or not he wore contact lenses,” she joked.
