Tony Khan wearing neck brace [via- Wrestle Ops on X]
To sell an unscrupulous beatdown by The Elite on AEW Dynamite this week, Tony Khan turned up with a neck brace at last night’s NFL draft. Adding injury to the insult, one of the on-air correspondents had quite an elaborative quote for the AEW CEO. The latter was introduced, saying that he became the first NFL executive in a draft room, shaking off the effects of a piledriver he received on national television.
The past Wednesday, AEW returned to its base in Jacksonville. Emanating from the Daily’s Place, the show felt like a big deal. Jack Perry, who returned at last weekend’s AEW Dynasty pay-per-view, fixed an in-ring appointment with Tony Khan later on in the night. When they met face-to-face, Perry alluded to their differences in the past. However, the 26-year-old said that he always wanted the best for All Elite Wrestling.
Tony nodded in approval and got the crowd rallying around Jack. The latter then asked his boss to reinstate him on the roster so that they could continue taking the company to inaccessible heights. Khan and Perry hugged it out. The Jaguars exec couldn’t smile for long as he received a punch in the gut from the former Jungle Boy.
The Elite, viz., Matt and Nick Jackson and Kazuchika Okada, came down to the ring, showing as if they were concerned for Mr. Khan. The Young Bucks didn’t waste motion in picking up Tony as they delivered a Meltzer Driver to the 41-year-old. Moments later, the Bucks, Okada, and Perry basked in the disdain of the fans. Tony’s father, Shahid Khan, also made his first ever on-screen AEW appearance to check on his son.
Tony Khan gets praised for his commitment to the AEW angle
As noted above, Tony Khan donned a neck brace in the Jacksonville Jaguars draft room. There’s a ton of appreciation he’s been getting from people all over the internet for keeping the kayfabe alive. Some of the reactions are listed below.
Tony Khan (via AEW)
A fan took a page out of Shaquille O’Neill‘s playbook to say that he owes Khan an apology as he wasn’t aware of his game. Another one brazenly claimed that Tony sells more than 90% of the current wrestlers. One called him out for promoting AEW in the NFL draft.
Then came a response, saying that he’s selling the injury better than how he reacted after getting smacked in the gut on Dynamite. A chunk of folks lauded Tony for his indelible commitment to the pro wrestling biz.
