“I didn’t know that”: Margot Robbie Couldn’t Believe Zack Snyder Kept 1 Secret Hidden From Her That Left Barbie Star Flabbergasted

Margot Robbie Couldn’t Believe Zack Snyder Kept 1 Secret Hidden From Her That Left Barbie Star Flabbergasted

Barbie star Margot Robbie was paid a set visit by Entertainment Weekly while she was filming for 2021’s The Suicide Squad and it was then that she learned that the creator of the DCEU, Zack Snyder, kept her future as Harley Quinn a secret.

We’re all aware that in the Knightmare sequence that came after the Justice League beat Steppenwolf in the director’s cut, the heroes were seen trying to put an end to Darkseid’s rule on Earth.

Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne was shown to be threatening Jared Leto’s Joker revealing in the middle that Harley Quinn died in his arms. It was, apparently, withheld from the actress.

Robbie claimed that playing Harley Quinn had been a taxing endeavor for her and she needed a break, but it turned out that Snyder had planned to free her from the duties in 2017’s Justice League itself.

Margot Robbie Stunned By Zack Snyder’s Secret

As James Gunn’s new DCU era axed many major stars from the roster, Margot Robbie became one of the major highlights attached to the franchise who could find her place with the new leadership.

Zack Snyder, for reasons unknown, kept Harley Quinn’s story arc a secret from her, and when EW asked what she felt about her character’s death which was revealed in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Robbie couldn’t believe what she’d heard.

“Whaaat?” she said to EW. “I didn’t know that. Thank you for telling me! I guess it’s kind of like the comics. The film version of the DC universe, I actually think they’re a lot like the comics.”

Though Robbie hasn’t reprised her role since The Suicide Squad, the filming for it was quite hectic in her opinion as some of the scenes were filmed in Panama that ruined her makeup due to hot temperatures.

Margot Robbie On Zack Snyder’s DCEU Storytelling

Being a fan favorite in the role of Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie realized that directors have their own way of storytelling and then connecting the dots in a team-up spectacle.

ComicBookMovie posted her full statement on the matter wherein she talked about how directors don’t have an obligation to use a character how it’s been used previously.

“What one director decides I don’t think dictates what another director might be able to pick up and do with the world and the characters, which is fun. I think that’s an appealing aspect for directors in the DC world, they can make it their own, the way James did. He didn’t have to be beholden to the version that David Ayer set up.”

Robbie wasn’t sure when she would return to the role, and with The Flash rebooting the timeline, her return is even more uncertain now.

The Suicide Squad is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
